My Music History

The earliest memories I have for music are listening to the sounds around me and the natural rhythms and harmonies created. Defining music as the organization of sound to me. The first instrument I began playing proficiently was the guitar at the age of 16. I then began playing the piano at the age of 18. I have practiced both the piano playing and guitar playing for the last 12 years. Then, I began playing the drums. I then began studying turntables and mixing recordings for live performance acts. I then began performing mixed media shows where parts of the shows consisted of digital performances and live PA's. I began studying electronic music and new media technology. Then I learned to develop computer software applications to process digital sound and construct software applications such as synthesizers and multi-track programs. I decided that I wanted to be a music teacher because I wanted to share the joy that music has given to me with others. To me, music is the universal language. Music is the ultimate form of physical expression. Vibrating energy that can reach anyone person. I teach guitar and piano lessons for adults. I teach technique and theory. I also teach music courses to elementary level students. In these classes, we study a lot of technique and theory but I also try to teach the students to relate to the sound through their bodies. To feel the energy created by the sounds. To feel the natural pull of the vibrations and frequencies.
